The Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association and Karnataka Government Medical Officers’ Association have urged the State Government to revoke the suspension orders against two health officials and reinstate them.
The district units of the associations submitted a memorandum to the Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare Services through the Deputy Commissioner and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer.
The associations sought revocation of the suspension orders issued against District Health and Family Welfare Officer (DHO) Dr Dhyaneshwar Niragudi and Basavakalyan Taluk Health Officer (THO) Dr Ashok Mylare.
They described Dr Niragudi as an honest, efficient and committed officer who had been effectively managing the district’s health system. His work and services to the Health Department were respected by officials and employees in the district, they said.
According to the associations, the suspension of the two officers was reportedly linked to an issue concerning the display of photographs of dignitaries on a banner at a programme held in Basavakalyan taluk on September 16.
The organisations expressed concern over the suspension of what they described as duty-bound officers over an alleged lapse related to a banner. They said the action had caused dissatisfaction among government officials and employees.
The associations urged the government to conduct an impartial examination of the facts surrounding the incident before taking further action. They also called for the suspension orders to be withdrawn and both officers reinstated in service.
The organisations further sought appropriate protection for sincere and committed government officials and employees against undue pressure or what they termed unfair action.
They said disciplinary action should be based on a proper assessment of the circumstances and that officials performing their duties should receive institutional support.
The associations maintained that the issue required a fair examination and urged the government to take a decision at the earliest in the interest of the officers and the functioning of the district health administration.
Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association district president Somashekar Chidri, secretary Prabhu Tugave and State Council member Rajkumar were present when the memorandum was submitted.
