Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday launched the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ in Varanasi to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and 25 years of his public service. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Chirag Paswan and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu attended the launch.

Adityanath said the campaign would highlight Modi’s political journey from Vadnagar in Gujarat to his present position as Prime Minister. He said Modi took a pledge to serve the people when he became Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, and has since completed 25 years in public service.

As part of the campaign, a 20-day bike yatra will travel from Kashi to Vadnagar. Ten yatras will begin from Varanasi, carrying holy water from rivers in the Kashi region to Vadnagar’s Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple through different routes. Similarly, holy water from rivers in Gujarat will be carried to Varanasi and offered at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

The campaign will continue until October 7, 2026. According to Adityanath, participating youths will also take part in various programmes during the journey. He said the initiative would focus on what he described as changes in people’s lives through government welfare schemes and development programmes.

The Chief Minister referred to schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, housing, rural electrification and sanitation while describing what he called the achievements of Modi’s years in public service. He also mentioned the startup ecosystem and said it had enabled some young people to become job creators rather than job seekers.

Adityanath also highlighted infrastructure development and initiatives under Digital India, along with developments in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, drones, robotics and semiconductor manufacturing. He cited projects and events including Kashi Vishwanath Dham, the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the Kumbh Mela as examples of what he described as the vision of a “new India”. His remarks at the event were part of the campaign’s broader celebration of Modi’s 25 years in public service.
