Gandhinagar gets ₹1,848 crore projects for roads, drainage, healthcare and transport, including 30 new electric buses under PM-eBus Sewa.

Gandhinagar district in Gujarat received development projects worth Rs 1,848 crore on Saturday, covering roads, drainage, water supply, healthcare, public transport and urban amenities. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi also flagged off around 30 new electric buses under the PM-eBus Sewa scheme.
Of the total investment, projects worth Rs 798 crore will be undertaken by the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, while the Roads and Buildings Department will execute works worth Rs 1,050 crore. Patel also announced new projects worth Rs 48.26 crore for the capital’s development.
Among the major works is a Rs 20.76 crore underpass at Bhat-Koteshwar Crossing to ease traffic pressure on the Gandhinagar-Koba-Airport Road. The government will spend Rs 12.80 crore to strengthen the Sabarmati River bridge connecting Raksha Shakti Circle towards GIFT City-Shahpur. Another Rs 7.70 crore will fund junction and road development between GIFT City and PDPU, while Rs 7 crore is earmarked for road safety and paver works from Raksha Shakti Circle to GIFT City Circle.
Civic works will include an 80-metre road linking Airport Road with Raysan and a service road from Raksha Shakti to Sargasan. Concrete roads will be developed in several areas. An overhead water tank is planned at Randheja, while drainage lines will be laid in Sectors 1 to 30 and seven surrounding villages to address monsoon waterlogging. An urban primary health centre will come up in Sargasan.
Modern theme-based smart Anganwadis, gardens and urban facilities are planned. Patel and Sanghavi travelled as ordinary passengers on one of the e-buses after flagging off. Mayor Mira Patel said the projects would benefit both old sectors and newly incorporated villages, with emphasis on basic facilities and connectivity.
