Various social service programmes will be organised in the Krishnaraja Assembly constituency from September 16 to 19 to mark the birthday of KPCC member and former Mysuru Development Authority (MDA) chairman H.V. Rajeev.
Addressing a press conference at the Mysuru District Journalists’ Association here on Saturday, former mayor Bhyrappa said the H.V. Rajeev Friends’ Forum had been involved in social service activities for several years. The four-day programme had been planned to celebrate Rajeev’s birthday in a meaningful manner.
A mega free health camp will be held at Bhoothale Grounds, Vidyaranyapuram, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 16. Health screening will be conducted in association with the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research for heart-related ailments, Bharat Cancer Hospital for cancer, Mysuru Race Club Eye Hospital for eye-related problems, JSS Hospital for dental care and the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing for speech and hearing disorders, besides other general health check-ups.
A blood donation camp will also be held at the venue. The blood collected will be donated to the Jayadeva Hospital and K.R. Hospital.
The programme will be inaugurated by Padma Shri awardee and international athlete Dr. K.S. Rajanna. Congress city president R. Murthy and other dignitaries will participate.
As part of the programme, 10 wheelchairs and two battery-operated wheelchairs will be handed over to K.R. Hospital. Besides, 20 covered pushcarts, one for each ward, will be distributed to street vendors.
A city tour in the Dasara Ambari vehicle will be arranged for deaf and mute students. One hundred chairs will also be distributed to Kanakagiri Government School.
Water bottles for students
On September 17 at 3 p.m., stainless steel water bottles will be distributed to 650 students of Karnataka Public School in Kuvempu Nagar. JSS School Coordinator Tripurantaka will speak about children on the occasion.
‘Green in Every Home’ initiative
On September 18 at 11.30 a.m., 1,000 plates and tumblers will be donated to the Plate Bank set up near the Akkamahadevi statue in JP Nagar by Adamya Chetana and Lions Plate Bank as part of the campaign for a plastic-free Mysuru.
As a continuation of the ‘Green in Every Home’ initiative, 4,000 saplings will be distributed to citizens near the Lisa Step School close to the BEML Arch at 4.30 p.m. the same day.
Senior citizens to be felicitated
On September 19 at 11 a.m., more than 300 senior citizens will be felicitated under the title ‘Jeevanotsaha’ at Puttaraju Gavaigala Grounds in JP Nagar. Orator Chetan Ramarao will speak about the role and contribution of senior citizens.
At 4 p.m. the same day, prizes will be distributed to organisations that conducted various competitions. The participating organisations include Abhyudaya Mahila Sangha, Arivina Mane Mahila Balaga, Akkamahadevi Mahila Balaga, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Vishwa Vokkaligara Sangha, Sharanu Vedike, Mutyal Associates, Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Kabaddi Sangha, Brahma Kumari Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, Yoga Trust, Ambedkar Foundation, Ramabai Ambedkar Sangha, Ramamandir Trust, Uppara Sangha and Bhovi Sangha, among others.
Former Mysuru City Corporation member K.V. Mallesh and H.V. Rajeev Friends’ Forum members Jayanth, Murali, K.S. Ram Prasad and Vasu were present at the press conference.
