Civic authorities are stepping up preparations to ensure smooth celebrations as the upcoming festival season approaches. The Bengaluru North City Corporation Commissioner, Pommala Sunil Kumar, led a rigorous late-night inspection tour alongside chief engineers and municipal officials to evaluate road conditions and public infrastructure across several key zones. The high-level delegation focused heavily on reviewing vital travel corridors to guarantee that traditional holiday processions and daily commuters encounter no major obstacles during the festivities.
The detailed inspection covered a major stretch running from Pulikeshi Nagar through Doddi Signal and Periyar Circle up to the Venkateshwara Swamy Temple. Special attention was given to traditional procession pathways, particularly along Tannery Road and parts of the Sarvagnanagar Division, where large public gatherings are expected. Commissioner Sunil Kumar explicitly instructed engineering teams to complete all necessary road repairs, fill dangerous potholes, and clear roadside debris, and secure open drains well before the holiday events commence.
A significant portion of the tour focused on rectifying roadway damage caused by utility projects and water supply pipeline installations. Officials noted that recent excavation work by water board teams had left numerous stretches uneven and prone to water stagnation, notably in Bilal Nagar. The commissioner directed utility departments to coordinate closely with municipal engineers to clear construction rubble, fix broken drainage slabs, and apply fresh asphalt to damaged tracks to restore safe vehicular traffic.
Furthermore, the civic chief inspected ongoing infrastructure coordination with metro authorities concerning upcoming asphalting plans on Tannery Road. He stressed the importance of inter-departmental synergy to prevent recurring utility cuts that degrade local pavements. Senior engineers, police representatives, and local ward officials accompanied the commissioner during the late-night assessment, with strict warnings issued that negligence in addressing these priority public safety concerns will not be tolerated by the municipal administration.
