Actress Amyra Dastur has revealed that she almost missed the opportunity to act in the upcoming streaming series Chumbak because her former manager failed to inform her about the audition. The actress shared the story while promoting the series in Mumbai with co-stars Arjun Bijlani, Helly Shah, Delnaaz Irani and Anant Joshi.
Dastur said she learned that auditions were being held for a Parsi character and immediately felt she could be a strong choice because she belongs to the Parsi community. She contacted casting director Jogi herself and asked why she had not been invited. To her surprise, he said the team had contacted her earlier, but had been told she was not interested in the project.
The actress quickly cleared up the misunderstanding and agreed to audition. She recalled that she auditioned twice before receiving the call confirming her selection. Dastur said she was relieved that the confusion was resolved, especially because she strongly connected with the character and the story. She also said representing her culture made the opportunity more special.
Dastur further praised the experienced actors around her, saying their performances encouraged her to improve her own work. She added that comedy was something she had always wanted to explore.
