Alia Bhatt became emotional while discussing her upcoming film Don’t Be Shy at its trailer launch. The actress, who is also producing the coming-of-age romantic comedy with her sister Shaheen Bhatt, said the project holds a special place in her heart. She admitted that she feels nervous as the film introduces four new actors and a debutant director.
Alia thanked Amazon for supporting the film and giving it a wide platform. She said the story is close to her heart because it explores growing up, something she believes audiences can easily understand. According to her, the film took about two years to develop after filmmaker Shri brought the original idea to the team.
Reflecting on her career, Alia said she entered the film industry as an actor 14 years ago and now feels a different kind of happiness as a producer. She explained that producing allowed her to help build the story and its world from the beginning. The experience, she said, gave her a deeper sense of fulfillment beyond acting.
Produced by Eternal Sunshine Productions, Don’t Be Shy follows 20-year-old Shy Das after her boyfriend ends their long relationship. Seeking revenge, she unexpectedly becomes friends with his new girlfriend, leading her toward friendship, love and self-discovery. Aarushi Bajaj, Ansh Duggal, Bianca Arora and Piyush Khati lead the young cast, with Neha Dhupia and Anurag Basu also appearing. The film will premiere globally on Amazon Prime Video on September 25, 2026.
