100 days of resolve, not celebration: Parameshwara

Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara said the State government’s 100-day programme was not a celebration but a declaration of its commitment to building a stronger Karnataka.
Speaking at the “Drudha Karnataka Sankalpa – Successful Completion of 100 Days” programme at Vidhana Soudha, he said Chief Minister D K Shivakumar was taking forward the path laid by former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah while introducing new ideas.
“In recent political times, if there is another name for modernity and struggle, it is D K Shivakumar. He has delivered several people-centric programmes within 100 days of assuming office,” Parameshwara said.
He said the government was facing a severe drought, with 101 taluks already declared drought-hit and more than 100 others under assessment. The State had suffered losses exceeding Rs 39,000 crore during the 2023-24 drought, he said, alleging that Karnataka had not received adequate assistance from the Centre.
Parameshwara highlighted the five guarantee schemes, saying Rs 1,50,126 crore had been spent on them. He said more than 245 of the 590 promises in the Congress manifesto had already been fulfilled.
He also said around 10,000 Bharat Jodo Sanghas were being established across Karnataka with Rs 1,000 crore earmarked for the initiative. About 7.3 lakh youngsters had enrolled within a week.
Several new initiatives were announced, including the Naegila Yogi scheme for farmers, Praja Seva to take government services to people’s doorsteps, an AI university, five lakh residential sites for houseless rural people and the Karnataka Aerospace Policy 2026-31.
The government also approved the revival of student elections, Shakti Smart Cards for women beneficiaries and new textile, ready-made garment and teak cultivation policies.
