The Chennai Open 2026 is set to return for its fifth edition, with the Professional Golf Tour of India staging the tournament at the TNGF Cosmo Golf Course from September 8 to 11.
The event carries a prize purse of ₹1 crore and will feature a strong field comprising leading Indian professionals and several international golfers. Defending champion N. Thangaraja of Sri Lanka will return to defend his title, while Indian players including Saptak Talwar, Veer Ahlawat, Om Prakash Chouhan, Manu Gandas, Khalin Joshi, Rashid Khan, Honey Baisoya and Akshay Sharma are also set to compete.
The international contingent includes Sri Lanka’s Mithun Perera, Bangladesh’s Jamal Hossain and Badal Hossain, Thailand’s Tanapat Pichaikool, Japan’s Koichiro Ishika and Taiga Tanaka, Czech Republic’s Stepan Danek, Uganda’s Joshua Seale, Nepal’s Subash Tamang, Americans Koichiro Sato and Dominic Piccirillo, and Ireland’s Declan Kenny.
The local challenge will be led by Chennai-based professionals S. Prasanth, S. John Royan, Ilayaraja C. and C. Arul, giving home players an opportunity to compete against an experienced international field.
CPCL Managing Director H. Shankar said the organisation was proud to support the event as Powered by Partner, highlighting its role in bringing premier professional golf to Chennai and providing opportunities for emerging golfers.
DP World PGTI CEO Amandeep Johl said the Chennai Open had become an important fixture on the tour calendar. With the season entering an exciting phase and the Race to DP World India Championship gathering momentum, the tournament is expected to produce another competitive week.
