Sri Krishna Janmashtami Mahotsava-2026 was celebrated with enthusiasm at Bal Bhavan in Mandya. The programme was organised by the State Chunchadri Mahila Pratishthana and the District Mahila Okkaliga Vedike. Vinay Kumar, president of the Ellarolagondagu Mankuthimma Trust, inaugurated the celebrations and interacted with children and parents.
Vinay Kumar said it was a matter of great happiness to see children dressed as Lord Krishna and Radha and their parents enjoying the celebrations. He said cultural programmes provide children with an opportunity to express themselves and develop confidence. He urged parents to encourage children to participate in such activities from an early age.
He observed that every individual possesses a unique talent and said such abilities should be identified and nurtured during childhood. According to him, ordinary people can also achieve success when they approach their responsibilities with creativity, commitment and a positive attitude. He encouraged parents to support their children in exploring their interests and developing their skills.
Kalpana Ramachandra said seeing children dressed as Krishna and Radha was itself a joyful experience. She said children enjoy wearing traditional costumes during festivals and such celebrations create pleasant memories for families. She added that children should be given opportunities to participate in cultural and traditional activities at an appropriate age.
As part of the programme, children who participated in the Krishna and Radha costume event were presented with certificates and prizes in recognition of their participation. The event also provided an opportunity for families and members of the women’s organisations to come together and celebrate the festival.
Former city municipal council member Shivaprakash Babu, Chunchashree Mahila Okkaliga Vedike member Shakuntala Sannigowda, Manjula Shivanna, Ashwini Lokesh, Latha Madegowda, Saraswati Boregowda, Lalithamma, Savitha, Taggalli Yashoda and Shilpa were among those present.
