The National Rifle Association of India has announced the final preparatory camps for the Indian shooting contingent ahead of the 2026 Asian Games, with athletes set to undergo intensive training before the continental competition begins on September 19.
The final camps will be held at two of the country’s premier shooting facilities the MP State Shooting Academy in Bhopal and the Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi. The arrangements are designed to provide athletes with discipline-specific facilities while allowing coaches and support teams to closely monitor their preparations.
Rifle and pistol shooters will train in Bhopal from September 5 to 14. The skeet squad will assemble in New Delhi from September 4 to 14, while trap shooters will conduct their final camp from September 10 to 18.
NRAI President Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo said the Asian Games represent a major opportunity for Indian shooters to demonstrate their ability on the continental stage. He expressed confidence in the athletes and reiterated the federation’s commitment to providing the resources required for podium performances.
NRAI Secretary General Pawan Kumar said conducting camps simultaneously in Bhopal and New Delhi would allow athletes to train in environments suited to their individual disciplines. He added that logistics and support arrangements had been coordinated to keep athletes focused.
High Performance Director Pierre Beauchamp said the final phase would prioritise precision, mental conditioning and technical refinement rather than training volume. Performance metrics will be closely monitored by the coaching and sports science teams to help athletes peak at the Asian Games.
