Mysuru
Objections have been invited from the public regarding the proposed removal of 33 trees for the construction of a Road Under Bridge (RUB) at Level Crossing (LC-1) near Kukkarahalli Lake on the Mysuru–Chamarajanagar railway line.
The National Highways Sub-Division has proposed removing trees that are obstructing the construction work. The trees proposed for removal include: On the right side of Kukkarahalli Lake near LC-1: Nine trees comprising one Gobbaragida (1A & 1B), four Honge, one Rain Tree, one Neem, one Peltophorum and one Baage. Left side from Kautilya Circle towards Padma Circle: 11 trees, including one Banyan, one Cherry, one Honge, four Peltophorum, one Tapasi and two Galichanda trees, among others.
Right side from Kautilya Circle towards Padma Circle: 10 trees, including one Spathodea, two Honge, two Galichanda, two Sissoo, one Peepal and others.
Within railway property at LC-1: Three trees—one Jackfruit, one Mango and one Peepal.
Thus, a total of 33 trees of different species are proposed to be removed. Forest Department officials and staff have conducted a spot inspection (mahazar) of the trees and prepared an assessment list. Members of the public may submit their objections by 6 p.m. on September 2 through email at acfmyspublichearing@gmail.com or by post to the Tree Officer and Assistant Conservator of Forests, Mysuru Sub-Division, Forest Bhavan, Ashokapuram, Mysuru–570008.
