A distressing incident from Venkatapur Tanda in Ranebennur taluk has drawn attention after a farmer was seen using his two children to plough his field instead of bullocks or machinery. The farmer, Shankarappa Lamani, owns about 3 acres and 16 guntas of land but reportedly does not have cattle or access to farm equipment. Due to financial constraints and rising cultivation costs, he asked his sons to assist in manually pulling agricultural implements in the field. According to villagers, the family could not afford to hire bullocks or rent machinery for weed removal in their crop. The incident has sparked concern about the economic hardships faced by small and marginal farmers in the region, where rising input costs continue to affect agricultural livelihoods
