Rohit Jain appointed as RBI Deputy Governor

The Government has appointed Rohit Jain as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India for a three-year term, according to official sources. He will replace T Rabi Sankar, whose extended tenure concluded recently. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet cleared his appointment effective from May 3 or later upon joining. Jain is currently serving as Executive Director at the RBI. The Reserve Bank of India has four deputy governors, with two from internal cadre, one commercial banker, and one economist heading monetary policy. The other deputy governors include Swaminathan J, Poonam Gupta and S C Murmu. Sankar had earlier received extensions in 2024 and 2025 respectively now.
