Weather in Haveri has become very hot due to rising temperatures in summer and health officials have advised people to take safety steps. District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr M Jayanand said people must protect themselves from heat related illnesses by following simple precautions. They should use hats umbrellas and sunglasses when going out and carry clean drinking water.
He suggested wearing light cotton clothes and drinking ORS coconut water buttermilk fruit juices and lassi to stay hydrated. People are advised to avoid alcohol tea coffee and spicy food during extreme heat. Children and elderly should stay indoors and rest during peak afternoon hours. If symptoms like dizziness confusion high body temperature or excessive sweating occur they should immediately move to shade and seek medical help or call emergency numbers 108 or 102.
Health centres in the district are equipped with ORS IV fluids and essential medicines to handle heat related illnesses. Officials say preparedness will help reduce risks and protect public health during summer season safely across district.
