The Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) has approved the installation of major equipment at Units 5 and 6 of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant. The clearance allows Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) to install important systems such as reactor vessels, steam generators and coolant pumps. Officials said the approval came after detailed safety checks and review of construction progress. The decision marks a major step from civil construction to equipment installation and is expected to speed up India’s plan to increase nuclear power generation capacity.
