Mohali
A special NIA court in Mohali has convicted and sentenced two men to five years and six months in prison for hoisting a Khalistani flag atop a government building in Punjab’s Moga in 2020, the National Investigation Agency said on Friday. The convicts, Inderjeet Singh and Jaspal Singh, were also fined ₹16,000 each. According to the NIA, the duo carried out the act at the deputy commissioner’s office on August 14, 2020, allegedly at the instigation of designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. Investigators said the accused insulted the national flag before hoisting the Khalistani banner. The NIA further alleged that Pannun’s associate Rana Singh alias Harpreet Singh had paid the accused to execute the act.
