HAVERI
A free inter-religious mass marriage program was held in Haveri, spreading a strong message of simple living and social responsibility. The event was organized by the All India Bahujan Samaj Party at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan in Siddharoda Colony, marking the birth anniversaries of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Basaveshwara, and Lord Buddha.
District President Ashok Marennavara said people should avoid spending too much on weddings and instead live by the values of Buddha, Basava, and Ambedkar. He stressed that costly marriages often push poor families into debt and financial trouble.
He pointed out that rising prices of daily essentials have made life difficult for many families. In such a situation, simple mass marriages can reduce financial burden and help people lead a better life. He appreciated all those who supported and worked hard to organize the event.
Ahinda leader Udachappa Malgi said such programs require unity and cooperation from society. He added that more people should come forward to support meaningful social initiatives.
Lid Bank Manager Baburao Topasamudre spoke about the importance of financial discipline. He said simple weddings can help families avoid loans and manage their finances wisely.
District Treasurer Shambhali Gaya from Anagodi Matha highlighted the importance of community support in helping the poor. He thanked everyone who contributed to making the program successful.
Several speakers, including Sahitya Haleshappa Akki, Shivalingappa Hiriyur, farmer Suresh Chalavadi, and M.K. Makhbool, extended their best wishes to the newly married couples.
The organizers also honored individuals who played a key role in the event. During the ceremony, newlyweds were taught the Preamble of the Constitution and encouraged to follow its values in their lives.
