Sub-Divisional Officer Dr. K. J. Kantharaju chaired a preliminary meeting in Chitradurga on Wednesday to plan the celebration of Shivasharane Mahasadhvi Hemareddy Mallamma Jayanti. The meeting was held at the Collectorate office hall. Officials decided to observe the Jayanti on May 10 at 11 am in a simple but meaningful way.
The main program will be held at the Collectorate office hall. Invitations will be printed and distributed as per tradition. During the meeting, Hemareddy Mallamma Samaj secretary D. T. Shivanandappa said that the society will also hold a separate program on May 25. It will include a grand procession and a felicitation ceremony for students who scored above 90 percent in SSLC and PUC examinations. He requested the district administration to support the event. Officials from the Kannada and Culture Department, education and sports departments, along with local leaders and representatives, attended the meeting and discussed arrangements for smooth conduct of the celebrations. Among those present were Assistant Director Dr. B. M. Gurunath, District Physical Education Officer Chidanandaswamy, City Councilor Puttappa, Samaj President Dr. L. Palakshaiah, former council president Sunitha Mallikarjuna, and leaders Mallikarjuna, Rabindranath, Nagabhushan and Sasidhara.
They welcomed the plan and stressed community participation. Officials said the celebration aims to spread social awareness and honor the saint’s legacy in a respectful manner. They also appealed for smooth coordination among all departments involved in the event preparations completed.
