Interstate burglar caught for Padavari gold theft

BYNDOOR

In a major breakthrough, Byndoor police have arrested a notorious interstate burglar linked to a high-profile gold theft in Padavari village. The suspect, identified as Umesh Balegar Mallaru, was apprehended following a targeted investigation into a daytime robbery at the home of local resident Gurukiran Patwal.

The thief had struck while the house was empty, breaking through the front door and looting gold ornaments from a cupboard. During a intense interrogation, Mallaru confessed that he had already melted the stolen jewelry into solid gold bars to avoid detection. He had hidden the stash in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, hoping to sell it off quietly. Acting quickly on this tip, a police team traveled to Madurai and successfully recovered 22 grams of gold bars, valued at approximately 2.81 lac.

Mallaru is far from a first-time offender, he is a seasoned criminal with a staggering record. Police revealed that he is a suspect in 36 different cases across Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. He has already been convicted in eight of those cases, while 23 others are still being investigated by various departments. His crimes span from coastal Malpe to the hilly regions of Chikkamagaluru.

The successful operation was led by Byndoor CPI Shivakumar B and supported by a large team of officers from multiple stations. By capturing such a high-profile criminal, the police have not only solved the local Padavari theft but also put a temporary end to a one-man crime wave that has plagued three states for years.
