JD(S) workers protested in Ramanagara against INDIA alliance over women’s reservation bill stand, calling it anti-women and demanding stronger political representation
Ramanagara
JDS party workers held a protest in Ramanagara on Tuesday against the Congress-led INDIA alliance over its stand on the women’s reservation bill in the Lok Sabha. The protest took place at Ijoor Circle and was led by former MLA A. Manjunath and district president H.C. Jayamuthu. Leaders said the opposition to the bill is an injustice to women and affects their representation. A. Manjunath said the party has opposed a law meant to strengthen women’s political rights and representation.
He said the protest is symbolic and aims to highlight the issue of women’s political empowerment. H.C. Jayamuthu said earlier governments supported women’s reservation and criticized the Congress for its stand. Protesters expressed anger and said voters would respond in future elections. The demonstration also included slogans and participation from several women leaders and party workers. Participants accused the Congress of weakening women’s rights through its policy decisions.
Leaders from different parts of the district attended the protest and supported the cause. The event concluded with calls for stronger support for women’s reservation in politics. Organizers said the protest was part of a statewide movement to demand clarity and commitment on women’s reservation and to ensure equal political opportunities for women in all levels of governance.
Party leaders said they will continue awareness campaigns and public outreach on the issue across the district in the coming days. Several senior leaders, women activists, and local supporters joined the gathering, making it a large-scale demonstration in the city. Police and officials maintained order throughout the protest to ensure peace and smooth conduct of the event.
