Deputy Commissioner G. Prabhu has directed officials to issue land title deeds along with e-property documents for beneficiaries under housing and shelter schemes in the district. He issued the instruction during a review meeting on site allotment and census work held at the District Collectorate on Tuesday.
He said about 308.47 acres of land is available under various housing schemes in rural and urban areas, and around 8,939 sites can be allotted to eligible beneficiaries. He instructed officials to ensure development of approved lands by May 15.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed that selection of beneficiaries must be done strictly through Gram Sabhas as per government rules. He warned that no pressure or recommendations should be accepted during the selection process.
He said priority should be given to applicants already surveyed and those who applied in 2018, following the principle of first come first served. He added that irregular allotment of sites to ineligible persons will not be tolerated and may affect the entire administrative system.
He also directed district level officers to closely monitor Gram Panchayat level work and ensure proper documentation, including photographs and video records of meetings.
On census work, he said it is a constitutional duty and no leave will be granted to assigned staff during the process. He warned of disciplinary action if work is not completed on time and noted that progress in some areas is slow.
He also instructed officials to set up taluk level helplines for immediate response to drinking water problems and ensure tanker supply within 24 hours if required.
Senior officials including the Zilla Panchayat CEO and Sub Divisional Officer attended the meeting and discussed implementation steps for housing and census activities across the district.
