Grand Basava Jayanti Procession, Free Health Camp in Chittapur on April 20

A grand procession and a free health check-up camp will be organized on April 20 at 10:30 a.m. in Chittapur to mark the 893rd Basava Jayanti celebrations, said Basavaraj Patil Belagumpa, President of the Jayanti Committee.

Addressing a press conference at Sharanabasaveshwara Temple in the town, he said the event is being jointly organized by the Akhil Bharat Veerashaiva Lingayat Mahasabha, Chittapur, and the Basava Jayanti Celebration Committee. He informed that the taluk administration will also conduct a grand procession of Basaveshwara’s portrait starting at 9 a.m. from Praja Soudha, which will pass through the main streets of the town and culminate at Basaveshwara Circle. Following this, a free health check-up camp will be held.The procession will feature traditional musical bands, drum troupes, and about 70 pairs of bullocks. Arrangements have been made for drinking water and prasadam for participants.

The free medical camp will be conducted at the APMC premises from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering check-ups and medicines for various ailments. People have been urged to make use of the facility. Taluk President of the Veerashaiva Lingayat Mahasabha, Nagaraj Bhankalagi, said the camp is being organized with the support of Medicare Multi-Speciality Hospital. Around 15 to 20 expert doctors, including specialists in orthopaedics, laparoscopic surgery, general medicine, gynecology, paediatrics, ENT, diabetes, ophthalmology, blood pressure, cleft lip, and skin diseases, will participate. The camp will be completely free of cost.

He also appealed to people from the taluk to participate in large numbers in a public meeting scheduled on April 19 at 4 p.m. at Sharanabasaveshwara Maidan in Kalaburagi under the leadership of B.R. Patil, B.G. Patil, and Sharankumar Modi. General Secretary Anand Patil Naribol, City President Chandrashekhar Utagoor, and several leaders including Basavaraj Kalagi, Basavaraj Sankanur, Omkar Reshme, Ambarish Sulegaon, Mahadev Angadi, Koteshwar Reshme, and Rachappa Bommanalli were present at the press conference.
